I’m hearing a lot of talk from even more and more Republicans these days about how Trump should man up and concede defeat and just quietly let the country move on and such. Suppose however, the election were tipped in the same way towards Trump, which it’s not unreasonable to imagine. It was after all a highly charged election with maximum support from both sides. Did not Hillary Clinton herself advise Joe Biden not to concede in such an eventuality? He has every right as well as the permission of Hillary Clinton to proceed with his challenges.

The last leaf
The last leaf. I feel more and more anymore like the last leaf. My infrastructure is disappearing. My web of lifelong connections is falling silent. I am becoming the last leaf.

I learned a couple of weeks ago that the drummer in one of our long ago bands has passed. The jarring thing is that he passed 6 years ago in 2014. Just a year or so ago I was thinking I should look him up and get together. Now I know that he was gone. He died in 2014, six years ago and I didn’t even know it. Friends, relatives, siblings, bandmates, classmates… one by one they drop. My world is shrinking. I am becoming the last leaf.
USA election 2020
If the calls for unity and healing weren’t so sad they’d be funny.
Beautiful evening
The moon is rising through the trees and a bat is darting through the dusk on this warm, mysterious, October night

Thursday thoughts
I don’t trust the government, I don’t trust the news media, I don’t trust large corporations. Then who do I trust? I have to trust what I see, and I see a lot of people being nice to one another, just trying to get along with their daily routines as best they can.

The swirling chemicals that translate into emotions somehow drive us through our lives.

I actually owned a car with a manual choke. Manual spark advance was before my time, though my aunt had a model A Ford joined to a truck differential and used as a tractor with a manual spark advance which we learned to use a manual shift and clutch on as children. The years fly by.

Vacuuming. I vacuumed a spider to its death. I felt remorse and said I was sorry. The conviction came to me. All life will be taken. Each in its own time. That’s the law. That’s God’s law.
Thought of the day
You do realize that if the universe is indeed a simulation generated by a higher level intelligence that the laws of nature have no necessity of being such despite their apparent inviolability. In such a case Jesus could well have risen from the dead, raised others from the dead, changed water into wine, and so on. UFOs could well break into blobs of glowing, floating metal, that suddenly switch colors as bright as the sun… they could well traverse light years of space instantaneously or actually have appeared here through a portal from a parallel universe. All bets are then off.
Evening rumination

Common sense should tell you that cities are breeding grounds for pandemics. You can’t even walk to the store without repeatedly coming within six feet of other people. A certain percentage of them are bound to be shedding viral particles. Obviously there is a higher concentration of viral particles in the air at all times in a city than there would be in the open, sparcely populated countryside, not to mention the millions of doors, guardrails, handles, etc.
